The Premier League and Championship pause for the international break, but it’s business as usual for League Two and the UEFA Nations League make up the rest of the fixtures in this weekend’s Classic Pools competition. We’ve provided recent form and head-to-head statistics for 5 fixtures we think have the potential to end in a classified draw on coupon.

1 – Austria v Croatia

Austria beat Croatia 3-0 in the reverse of this Nations League fixture back in June, Croatia have won the previous five meetings between the two sides.

Austria will come into this after a midweek visit to France, they held the reigning World Cup champions to a 1-1 draw in their last home game.

Prior to their midweek fixture with Denmark, Croatia have won five of their last eight competitive matches. Luka Modric’s fifth-minute penalty gave them a 1-0 win over France in their last away game.

2 – Czech Republic v Portugal

The Czech Republic have lost their last three meetings with Portugal, including the reverse of this Nations League fixture in June, which the Portuguese won 2-0 in Lisbon.

In four Nations League matches the Czech Republic have suffered two defeats on the road, but on their home turf they’ve beaten Switzerland 2-1 and held Spain to a 2-2 draw.

Portugal are competing with Spain for the top of the group, their two away games have ended in a 1-1 draw with Spain and a surprise 1-0 defeat to Switzerland.

25 – Grimsby v Swindon

Two in-form sides meet when Grimsby hosts Swindon in League Two this weekend. Swindon won 3-0 away and 3-1 at home the last time they met (2019-20 season).

Grimsby haven’t lost in League Two since their opening game of the season, but they’ve had more success on the road. Three home games have all ended in a draw, but they’ve taken maximum points on the road with four away wins.

Swindon have also gone unbeaten in League Two since an opening day defeat at Harrogate (3-0). They’ve drawn five of their eight games since, but will look to make this a third consecutive league victory.

46 League Encounters

17 Grimsby wins

20 Swindon wins

9 Draws

26 – Hartlepool v Gillingham

Strugglers Hartlepool and Gillingham could share the points in League Two this weekend. Gillingham edged a 4-3 victory after extra time in their last encounter, which was a 1st round FA Cup replay back in 2018.

Hartlepool are still without a win after nine matches in League Two this season (4D, 5L), but three of their four home games have ended in a stalemate.

Gillingham’s 1-0 victory hosting Rochdale in early August is their only win from nine league games this term. They’ve picked up points in draws with Swindon (0-0) and Grimsby (1-1) this month, but were beaten 2-0 hosting Mansfield last weekend.

34 League Encounters

11 Hartlepool wins

15 Gillingham wins

8 Draws

31 – Walsall v Tranmere

An 85th minute penalty gave Walsall a 1-0 victory in this fixture last season, Tranmere won 1-0 in the reverse.

Walsall started the season with back-to-back league wins, but have gone winless in seven league games since (3D, 4L). They return to league action after losing 2-1 away at Cheltenham in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday.

Tranmere bounced back from back-to-back league defeats to beat highflyers Salford City 1-0 last weekend. They hosted Bolton in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday and a 2-2 draw pushed the game to penalties, which Tranmere won 5-4.

74 League Encounters

34 Walsall wins

25 Tranmere wins

15 Draws
