Brighton vs Everton Premier League

Brighton & Hove Albion start the game week six points clear of the relegation zone, but they might be getting nervous after just two wins across their previous eight Premier League (PL) matches (W2, D2, L4). They opened the scoring in five of those fixtures, yet rarely held on, and Graham Potter’s side have now dropped 20 points from winning positions – three more than any other PL side!

The ‘Seagulls’ have performed better on the road than at home, highlighted by the fact that only three other sides have a worse home record (W2, D7, L6). Still, they usually do a good job of keeping their opponents quiet in the early stages at home, and have trailed before HT on just three occasions (HT: W4, D8). Yet, they grow more vulnerable late on and have conceded 63.16% of their home goals in the second half.

Everton remain in the European place hunt, but need to end a four-match winless run (D1, L3) if they’re to keep up with the chasing pack. They’re yet to register five consecutive winless games since Carlo Ancelotti arrived in December 2019, but may be wary late on as they conceded four of six ‘goals against’ during that run after the 60th minute.

Only the top three teams have won more away points than the ‘Toffees’, which should give them confidence for this one (W9, D2, L3). It’s rarely plain sailing though and their away wins have often been tight. Seven of their nine away wins came by way of a one-goal margin – the highest in the league.

Players to score: Brighton’s Leandro Trossard is in impressive form with four goals in his last six appearances for club and country – three arrived in the 15 minutes either side of HT. Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored against four of the league’s current bottom five this season, including Brighton.

Hot stat: A joint-league high 80% of Brighton’s home matches have failed to produce over 1.5 first-half goals.

Prediction: Brighton [1] vs [2] Everton
