With none of Brighton’s last 19 matches witnessing a margin of 2+ goals, this relegation six-pointer could be as tight as the table suggests. The ‘Seagulls’ do have the ability to get off to a flying start though after netting the opener by the 20th minute in their last two Premier League (PL) games, but are often brought back down to earth as they’ve dropped 17 points from winning positions this PL season – only one side has a worse record.

 

That was the case in their last PL home match, as Brighton scored the opener with their sole first-half shot on target, but plummeted to a 2-1 defeat. Subsequently they’ve won a league-low one home game (W1, D7, L6), but due to their decent starts have only trailed at the break three times here this PL campaign (HT: W3, D8, L3).

 

On a run of three PL draws for the first time since 2011, Newcastle desperately need a victory to end their current five-game winless streak. Players to watch: Defender Lewis Dunk opened the scoring last time out for his 20th league strike in a Brighton shirt – 15 were headers. Newcastle have their own goalscoring defender in Jamaal Lascelles who’s been their sole scorer in two of their previous three games.
