A classy Liverpool won 3-0 at Arsenal in the previous Premier League (PL) round, but returning to Anfield may not be welcomed considering their last six league wins have come on the road – only the second time during their history in which that’s happened. However, after a 3-1 midweek defeat at Real Madrid, Liverpool will be desperate to get back to winning ways as they chase a top-five place, especially as they’re seeking revenge after Aston Villa thumped them by an astonishing 7-2 score line in the reverse fixture.

 

Currently on a six-game losing league run at home for the first time since 1953/54 – a season that saw Liverpool finish bottom of England’s top flight – the ‘Reds’ have now failed to score with their last 115 PL shots at Anfield. Desperate for goals, four of Liverpool’s last five H2H home strikes have arrived after the 55th minute, so their beleaguered fans may need to wait a little longer.

 

Villa still have European-place ambitions after their 3-1 win vs Fulham last time out. Players to score: After scoring in midweek, Mohamed Salah has now grabbed a second-half strike in three of Liverpool’s last four games. Ollie Watkins also netted last time out, but it was his memorable first-half hat-trick in the reverse fixture that fuelled Villa’s famous 7-2 win.
