Still seeking their first-ever UEFA Champions League (UCL) trophy, PSG’s 3-2 first-leg away win has put one Parisian foot in the semi-final as they seek revenge after Bayern Munich beat them in last year’s final. However, that first-leg victory wasn’t easy, as PSG faced 31 shots from a relentless Bayern side – more than they’ve faced in a UCL game since at least 2003/04!

 

The French champions followed that up with a 4-1 win at Strasbourg, and have now netted 2+ first-half goals and scored in both halves in four of their previous five matches (W4, L1). Furthermore, their unbeaten run of 17 UCL away games is a new competition record (W13, D4 – neutral venues excluded).

 

That said, Bayern have lost all four UCL away games they’ve played vs PSG, although they did beat Leeds United at this stadium in 1975 to become European champions! However, three straight HT/FT away wins coming into this clash will have Bayern believing their H2H hoodoo can end.

 

Players to score: Kylian Mbappé has scored the opener within 20 minutes in three of PSG’s last four games, but could be beaten to the first strike by Jamal Musiala who scored the opener last time out, and netted before HT in Bayern’s last UCL road trip.

 

Hot stat: Bayern have recorded a 33.33% win-rate (W1, D1, L1) since Robert Lewandowski was injured, compared to 80% in his last ten games for the German champions.
