West Ham vs Leicester Premier League

West Ham United resumed winning ways with a 3-2 success over Wolves last round to maintain their UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualification aspirations. Priced up at 150/1 at one point before a ball was kicked this season to achieve that, they now control their own destiny with eight games remaining. They’re also now only 11 points shy of producing their best-ever Premier League (PL) points return.

David Moyes’ side have suffered just three PL home defeats this campaign, all by a two-goal margin. However, they’ve scored an average of 2.50 goals across their previous four games on home turf (W3, D1), with the 3-3 draw versus Arsenal in their last match here the first time since September 1998 that they failed to win a PL contest after being three up.

Sitting directly above West Ham ahead of the round, Leicester City also remain on course for what would be only their second-ever UCL campaign. However, they have just two points more than at this stage of last season, when they missed out on fourth place by four points. They are, however, unbeaten in their last five visits to West Ham (W3, D2), scoring 2+ goals in four.

Suffering just one away PL loss all season (W10, D4), only runaway leaders Manchester City have earned more away points than Leicester. They now enjoy a ten-match unbeaten PL away run, despite only claiming three clean sheets across those. Obviously undeterred by conceding, Leicester come on strong late and have scored a league-high nine away goals from the 76th minute till FT.

Key battle: No PL player has had more goal involvements (six goals, three assists) than West Ham’s Jesse Lingard since he signed on loan in January. He’ll face Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel, who only has a 14.29% clean sheet ratio in 14 career H2H appearances.

Hot stat: West Ham are aiming to score 3+ goals in three consecutive PL games for the first time since March 2011.

Prediction: West Ham [3] vs [2] Leicester
