Wolves vs Brighton Premier League

Mid-table Wolverhampton Wanderers squandered a lead last time out in their 1-1 draw with local rivals West Brom, but that result means they’re still the only Premier League (PL) side yet to lose after scoring first (W8, D2). Overall form isn’t great though with only two wins in nine (D3, L4), and strikingly they netted just two first-half goals during that run.

Back at Molineux, the hosts will be trying to bounce back from their recent 4-0 hammering to Burnley – their heaviest PL home defeat since March 2012. Thankfully for Wolves, they’ve not failed to score in back-to-back home league clashes since January 2019. Any victory could be tight though given five of their previous six PL home wins came by a one-goal margin, whilst four were ‘to nil’.

Brighton & Hove Albion significantly eased relegation fears by beating Leeds 2-0 to secure only their third PL win of the campaign when starting as pre-match favourites (D8, L5). This result also ended a four-game winless run (D2, L2) and handed them an impressive 12th PL clean sheet (35.29%) – that’s a number bettered by only four other teams.

Graham Potter’s side have claimed more points on the road (20) than at Amex Stadium this season (17), although goals are often a rare commodity. Eight of their previous 11 PL away matches produced under 2.5. On the subject of goals, the first could be key given that the ‘Seagulls’ have secured just one away point after conceding the opener (D1, L6).

Players to score: Wolves playmaker Rúben Neves has scored three of his five PL goals this season from the penalty spot, including in the last H2H. Meanwhile, striker Danny Welbeck has scored three of Brighton’s last six goals, and netted three times across six H2H appearances vs Wolves.

Hot stat: Ahead of this weekend, just two sides across Europe’s top-five divisions have drawn more league matches than Brighton this season (13) – the last four H2Hs also finished all-square!

Prediction: Wolves [1] vs [1] Brighton
