Manchester City and Manchester United meet for the new season’s curtain raiser when they contest the Community Shield at Wembley this Saturday. It was the Red Devils who came out on top in their last meeting, winning 2-1 in the FA Cup final back in May.
Manchester City have lost the last three Community Shields. They lost 1-0 to Leicester, lost 3-1 to Liverpool and last year were beaten on penalties after drawing 1-1 with Arsenal.
Manchester United last won the Community Shield when they beat Leicester 2-1 back in 2016. The Red Devils have won three of their five pre-season friendlies, but were beaten 3-0 by Liverpool in the latest.

3 – Hull City vs Bristol City
Hull and Bristol City meet at the MKM Stadium for their opening Championship game of the 2024-2025 season. This fixture finished in a 1-1 draw last season and Bristol City scored the winner 6-minutes from time to edge a 3-2 victory in the reverse.
Hull failed to win any of their six pre-season matches, they lost four and drew two. They drew 2-2 with Italian side Fiorentina in their last home game.
Bristol City had a more positive pre-season with four wins from five friendlies and drew 0-0 with Dutch side Willem II in their final warm-up game last weekend.

8 – Q.P.R. vs West Brom
QPR found a late equaliser to draw 2-2 with West Brom at Loftus Road last season. The Baggies won 2-0 when they met at The Hawthorns.
QPR lost their final three pre-season friendlies to Tottenham (2-0), Reading (1-0) and Brighton (1-0). The Hoops lost just twice in their final ten home games in the Championship last season.
West Brom were beaten 4-1 in a friendly with Birmingham City last weekend and only managed two wins from their final ten league matches last term.

Charlton clinched a 3-2 victory visiting Wigan in League One last season, the reverse fixture finished in a 2-2 stalemate.
Wigan managed just two wins in six pre-season friendlies and were beaten 1-0 at League Two Barrow in the latest. The Latics went unbeaten in their last seven home games in League One last season (4W, 3D).
Charlton were the draw specialists in League One last season with 20 of their 46 matches ending in a stalemate. Last weekend they beat Portsmouth 2-0 to make three wins from five pre-season friendlies.

Both Barrow and Crewe won 3-1 away when they met in League Two last season. Barrow finished 8th in the table and Crewe were 2-points ahead in 6th.
Barrow beat Wigan 1-0 last weekend to make three wins, two defeats and one draw from their six preparation matches. They ended last season picking up just 2-points in their final seven league matches.
