This week classic pools fixtures for UK 2025/2026 season, should see some close ties at both ends of the table across various leagues. Local pride will be at stake across most fixtures with what should be entertaining matches this weekend. We’ve looked through the fixtures and provided head-to-head statistics for five matches we think have the potential to end in a draw.

29 – Plymouth Argyle vs Northampton Town
As the chill of late November settles over Home Park, bottom-of-the-table Plymouth Argyle desperately seek a spark to ignite their faltering 2025/26 League One campaign when they host mid-table Northampton Town. The Pilgrims, languishing in 23rd with just 16 points from 16 games (5 wins, 1 draw, 10 losses; 19 goals for, 28 against), enter this fixture on the back of a gritty 1-0 away win at Port Vale, their first league victory since mid-October. That result snapped a dismal four-game losing streak, but with relegation to League Two looming.

Head-to-Head Record
These sides boast a storied history dating back to Argyle’s professional debut in 1903, when Plymouth claimed a 2-0 home win over Northampton in their first-ever match as a fully pro outfit. Across 20+ competitive meetings, the record is evenly poised: Plymouth edge it with 8 wins to Northampton’s 7, and 5 draws.

This screams a tight, low-scoring grind, with Plymouth’s home desperation clashing against Northampton’s resilience. Argyle edge it 1-0, but don’t rule out the possibility of a stalemate.

30 – Rotherham United vs Wycombe Wanderers
Two of League One’s most physically imposing sides lock horns at the New York Stadium on Saturday, as 11th placed Rotherham United (23 points from 17 games) welcome 10th placed Wycombe Wanderers (23 points from 17 games) in what promises to be a bruising, set-piece-heavy encounter. With only two points and two places separating them, this has all the makings of a genuine six-pointer in the race for the play-offs.

Head-to-Head Record
Played 22 competitive meetings since 1994
Rotherham wins: 9
Wycombe wins: 7
Draws: 6

Everything points to another cagey, physical stalemate. Rotherham’s home resilience meets Wycombe’s outstanding away form in a game likely to be settled (or not settled) by a single header or scramble. Back the 1-1 draw at around 6/1.

31 – Stockport County vs Barnsley
A mouth-watering top-of-the-table clash awaits in Greater Manchester as 4th-placed Stockport County (28 points from 16 games) host 9th-placed Barnsley (24 points from 14 games) in what is already being billed as an early-season play-off dress rehearsal. Just one point and two places separate the sides, and with both in red-hot form, this has all the ingredients of a classic.

Head-to-Head Record (competitive meetings since 1991)
Played: 18
Stockport wins: 7
Barnsley wins: 6
Draws: 5

This is the hardest game to call in League One this weekend. Two attack-minded sides in form, two excellent home/away records, and a history of draws. Everything screams goals and drama, but also parity. Back 2-2 at 12/1 or simply take “Both Teams to Score” it has landed in six of Stockport’s eight home games and seven of Barnsley’s eight away games this season.

43 – Shrewsbury Town vs Gillingham
Fresh off relegation from League One, Shrewsbury Town host Gillingham at the Croud Meadow in a mid-table League Two scrap that could prove pivotal for both sides’ ambitions. The Shrews, sit 22nd with 16 points from 17 games, desperately seeking consistency after a harrowing drop that saw them finish rock-bottom last term.

Head-to-Head Record
These clubs have clashed 23 times since 1950, with Shrewsbury holding a slight edge: 8 wins to Gillingham’s 4, and a whopping 11 draws (goals: Shrewsbury 29-25 Gillingham). The fixture’s hallmark is stalemates, nearly half the meetings end level, including four of the last six in League One (2019-2022), all 0-0 or 1-1. Standout results include Gillingham’s 1-0 play-off final triumph over Shrewsbury at Wembley in 2009 and a 2-0 Gills win in 2020.

Relegation scars meet promotion poise in a game tailor-made for tension and few goals. Shrewsbury’s home hunger clashes with Gillingham’s organization, but history screams parity. We’ll back the 1-1 draw at 5/1, it’s landed in 48% of their H2Hs and fits both sides.

43 – Walsall vs Bromley
The Poundland Bescot Stadium plays host to a tantalizing top-six tussle in League Two as promotion hopefuls Walsall (1st, 32 points from 17 games) take on in-form Bromley (3rd, 30 points from 17 games). With just two point separating them, this could be a defining moment in the race for automatic promotion, pitting the Saddlers’ clinical finishing against the Ravens’ resilient defense in what looks set to be a chess match of a midfield battle.

Head-to-Head Record
These sides have limited competitive history, with just two meetings in League Two last season, both ending in low-scoring draws that epitomize the tactical caution expected this time. The record stands at: Walsall 0 wins, Bromley 0 wins, 2 draws (goals: 1-1 total). The first, a 0-0 stalemate at The Hayes Lane in October 2024, saw Bromley frustrate Walsall’s attacks with a packed defense. The return fixture in March 2025 at Bescot was equally cagey, ending 1-1 after Cheek’s equalizer.

Two promotion obsessives, both draw specialists (Walsall 2/16, Bromley 6/17), meet in a fixture screaming stalemate. Walsall’s home bite meets Bromley’s road resilience, expect few chances and a shared spoils.
