Pool Result Today Saturday Week 16 Pool Result for Sat 21 Oct 2023 – UK 2023/2024
The Premier League and Championship return following the international break and are back amongst the fixtures in this weeks’ coupon. There’s not much to separate Aston Villa and West Ham when they meet at Villa Park and Sheffield United may be underrated against Manchester United at Bramall Lane. We’ve looked through the games and provided recent form and head-to-head statistics for five matches we think have the potential to end in a draw.
1 – Aston Villa v West Ham
Both Aston Villa and West Ham have made great starts in the Premier League this season and sit 5th and 7th respectively. The Hammers clinched a 1-0 win in this fixture last term and it finished 1-1 when they met at the London Stadium.
Aston Villa have won all three home games in the Premier League this season, beating Everton 4-0, Crystal Palace 3-1 and Brighton 6-1. They came away with a 1-1 draw at Wolves in their last match before the international break.
West Ham have only lost two of their eight Premier League games this season and they were to Manchester City and Liverpool. They come into this unbeaten in four matches in all competitions, consisting of three wins on the bounce before a 2-2 draw hosting Newcastle.
108 League Encounters
34 Aston Villa wins
40 West Ham wins
34 Draws
8 – Sheffield Utd v Man Utd.
Manchester United won 3-2 on their last visit to Bramall Lane, which was in the 2020-21 season. Sheffield United won 2-1 at Old Trafford in that campaign.
Sheffield United are still winless in the Premier League this season and have picked up just 1-point from a 2-2 draw with Everton. However, they limited the damage to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at Bramall Lane and were unfortunate not to get a point in a 2-1 defeat at Tottenham.
Manchester United have suffered five defeats in their last eight matches in all competitions. The Red Devils needed Scott McTominay’s stoppage time double to snatch a 2-1 win over Brentford before the international break.
92 League Encounters
34 Sheffield Utd wins
42 Man Utd wins
16 Draws
10 – Bristol City v Coventry
Bristol City and Coventry drew 0-0 and 1-1 in the Championship last season, but Bristol City also won 4-1 in a first round EFL Cup tie last term.
Bristol City only suffered one defeat in their first seven league games this season, but form has dipped for the Robins and they’ve lost three of the last four. They were beaten 2-1 at Leeds before the international break.
Coventry have only lost two of their eleven league games this season, but they are looking like the draw specialists with six games ending in stalemate. A late own goal gave them a 1-1 draw hosting Norwich before the international break.
64 League Encounters
21 Bristol City wins
21 Coventry wins
22 Draws
14 – Norwich v Leeds Utd
Norwich and Leeds United’s most recent encounters were in the Premier League in the 2021-22 season and the Whites won 2-1 at home and 2-1 away.
Norwich have been solid at Carrow Road this season and won four of their five matches. The exception was a 2-0 defeat hosting Leicester last month.
Leeds sit in 5th place and have won three of their last four Championship matches, but they were beaten 3-1 at Southampton in their last away game.
54 League Encounters
19 Norwich wins
22 Leeds Utd wins
13 Draws
25 – Leyton Orient v Barnsley
10th placed Leyton Orient welcome 3rd placed Barnsley for a League One clash at Brisbane Road. They’ve not met since the 2014-15 season where this fixture finished 0-0 and Barnsley won 2-0 in the reverse.
Leyton Orient have only lost one of their last seven matches in all competitions and have claimed five wins in that run. They came away 1-0 winners at Carlisle last weekend.
Barnsley have the best away record in League One so far this season, only dropping points in a 1-1 draw at Bristol Rovers back in August. The Tykes are looking to make this a sixth consecutive league victory on the road.
54 League Encounters
21 Leyton Orient wins
23 Barnsley wins
